Managing album workflow

When you start using your digital camera you might not aware what a mess can be in your "My pictures" folder after awhile. Setting up a workflow in the begining will spare you time, and helps keeping the My pictures folder tidy.

1. Collect images into subfolders by trips / occasions

If you create folders for each trip / occasion you can easily find later whatever you look for even with the Search / Find File utility of the operating system. Use depictive names, and also include the date in the folder name too. The best is using the YYYY/mm/dd scheme as this way ordering the folders by name will result in folders ordered by date too. Example:

My Pictures
20060515 Trip to London
20060621 Anne's wedding
20060801 Hiking in Scotland
20070101 New Year's party

You might also want to assort your images by year (if you have lots of pictures every year).

My Pictures
2006
0221 At Madame Tussaud's
0315 South-East Asia
0402 Amsterdam
2007
