Tips & Tricks

1. The Output Method

This uses the existing Output data, ie the already existing albums themselves.

  • Create a Master Album project file (MasterAlbum.jap). It does not matter where it resides, though the Input folder may be a good place.
  • Make all configurations. Set the key parameters:
    Image directory = Output folder
    Output directory = Output folder
    Process subdirectories = unselected
  • Make Album

MasterAlbumOutput.jpg

This is the simplest method, see MasterAlbumOutput.jpg. The links to the existing album root index.html files are created so that all the albums work together under the master index.

Note that the only JAlbum Project file that is essential is the MasterAlbum.jap. However, if changes are made (say in the ordering of the album folders) then JAlbum Project files are created in the Output. These may easily be deleted when house-cleaning, so beware! The main disadvantage, though, is the obvious lack of control & creativity. "Large thumbs for Folders", for example, cannot be used (not without adding files to the output which is not to be recommended).
